PRESERVING THE STORIES OF THE REAL LIFE SCOUTS & SPIES OF THE ARMY OF THE POTOMAC

Founded in February 2023 on the 160th anniversary of its original creation, the Bureau of Military Information Living History aims to bring to light the very rarely mentioned but highly valued group of scouts and spies under the command George H. Sharpe who brought forth the vital information to generals George Meade & Ulysses S Grant that helped bring an end to the Civil War.

Who was George Sharpe and the bureau of military information?

A Kingston, New York lawyer turned Colonel of the 120th New York Volunteer Infantry became the commander of the field intelligence within the Army of the Potomac and one of the greatest assets to the Union war effort.
